Style: The Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection,” Legion of Honor, March 14-July

A
presentation of more than 60 ready-to-wear garments, haute couture creations,
accessories and fashion sketches by American designers including Elizabeth
Hawes and Charles James, as well as French couture designers Hubert de
Givenchy, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli. From the Brooklyn
Museum Costume Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, they encompass
pivotal points in 20th century fashion including the 1930s,
‘40s and ‘50s.
